BCI/BCC

Under the Broadcasting Act of 2001 the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) was established to regulate the broadcast sector both in terms of editorial and advertising content. The BCI also has responsibility for the issuing and monitoring of commercial broadcasting licences for all national, regional and local TV and radio stations. The BCI’s sister organisation, the broadcasting complaints commission, acts a watchdog and arbiter of complaints received from the public regarding broadcasting content.
